20 & 21 February 2027 · Chandigarh

Ela and Neel, in ivory, against a dark brick wall

Sunday 21 February · 4:30 PM

Married at sunset, in a brick courtyard.

We like things simple. Two days, four moments, and the people we love most, in the city where we learned to draw a straight line. Come to Chandigarh. Wear something light. Stay till the end.

Smt. Anju & Shri Harpreet Bedi, and Smt. Pema & Shri Dorjee Pradhan invite you to the wedding of their children, Ela and Neel.

What to wear

Available in four finishes.

HaldiSaturday 20 February

Yellow. One shade, any cut. Wear something you can get messy.

How it was drawn

Ten years, in ink and pencil.

Two architects, one drafting table, ten years. Ela tells it in ink. Neel tells it in pencil.

  1. 2016

    One straight line

Ela, in inkFirst day of first year. Prof. Sidhu asked us to draw one straight line, a metre long, freehand. Mine wobbled. His was perfect.

Neel, in pencilI used a ruler under the sheet. She was the only one who noticed. She didn't tell anyone. That's when I liked her.

  2. 2018

    Sector 17

Ela, in inkWe drew the Capitol together for a term, every Saturday. He brought the chai; I brought the eraser.

Neel, in pencilCorbusier painted the columns red, yellow, green. I told her red was the only one that mattered.

  3. 2020

    Two cities

Ela, in inkAhmedabad for my master's. He was in Bengaluru. We sent each other floor plans of our days.

Neel, in pencilHers always had a room labelled 'Neel, eventually'.

  4. 2025

    The proposal

Ela, in inkHe gave me a drawing of a house: two rooms, one courtyard, a single door. It said 'Ours?' in pencil.

Neel, in pencilShe redlined it in ink. 'Yes. Fewer doors.' We've been building it since.

  5. 2027

    Back to the grid

Ela, in inkChandigarh, where it started. A brick courtyard, a fire, sunset.

Neel, in pencilSeven rounds. No ruler this time.

Before you ask

Questions, answered.

What should I wear?

Yellow on Saturday morning, black on Saturday night, white on Sunday. That's it. The colours are on every function, and on the home page.

Can I bring a plus-one?

Your invitation lists everyone we've planned a seat for. We kept it small on purpose, so please ask us before bringing someone new.

Is the food vegetarian?

The haldi lunch is vegetarian. The sangeet and dinner have a vegetarian table and a non-vegetarian one, clearly marked.

Gifts?

Please don't. If you insist, there's a jar for a tree-planting fund at the dinner, and we'll plant one tree in Leisure Valley for every family.

I can't travel. Can I watch?

Yes. The pheras are streamed live, with the time shown for your city and a line explaining each ritual.

Who do I call if I'm lost?

Meher (Ela's sister) on +44 7700 900123 on WhatsApp, or Sonam (Neel's brother) on +91 97330 00004.
